How Marco Solved the Friday Night Feast

Marco wasn’t your average kid. Sure, he liked video games and cartoons, but his true passion was pizza. He could identify a pepperoni from a veggie slice from a mile away and knew the perfect ratio of cheese to sauce for maximum deliciousness. But there was one problem – Marco was allergic to wheat!

Every Friday night, the tantalizing aroma of pizza wafted in from his neighbor’s house, driving Marco crazy. He watched with longing as his friends devoured gooey slices, their faces smeared with tomato sauce. One Friday, as the familiar scent filled the air, Marco decided he couldn’t take it anymore. He had to find a solution.

Determined, Marco marched into his grandma’s kitchen, a place filled with bubbling pots and the fragrant aroma of spices. Grandma Sofia, a woman with a mischievous glint in her eyes and a flour-dusted apron, was his baking partner in crime.

“Grandma,” Marco declared dramatically, “I need your help! I can’t handle Friday night pizza torture anymore!”

Grandma Sofia chuckled, knowing exactly what he meant. Together, they embarked on a mission to create a pizza Marco could finally enjoy. They experimented with different flours – almond, chickpea, and even a mix of ground-up vegetables. They baked crusts that were thin and crispy, thick and chewy, even shaped like Marco’s favorite cartoon character.

Each attempt resulted in a delicious, albeit unusual, creation. There was the broccoli crust pizza (healthy, but not exactly Marco’s favorite), the sweet potato crust with a marshmallow swirl (more dessert than pizza), and the “Volcano Veggie” with a cauliflower crust and a fiery hot pepper sauce (definitely not for the faint of heart!).

Just when they were about to give up, Marco’s eyes lit up. He remembered the giant zucchini growing in their garden. “Grandma,” he exclaimed, “what if we use the zucchini as the crust?”

Grandma Sofia, always game for an experiment, sliced a thick round from the zucchini and prepped it like a pizza crust. They topped it with Marco’s favorite combination of pepperoni, mozzarella, and a sprinkle of red chili flakes. The result? A masterpiece!

The zucchini crust held its shape perfectly, baking to a golden brown. The first bite was a revelation. The zucchini added a subtle sweetness that complimented the savory toppings, making it a unique and delicious pizza experience.

Marco finally had his Friday night pizza fix! Word spread about their invention, and soon, the whole neighborhood was lining up to try “Zucchini Surprise.” They called Marco “The Pizza Genius,” and his house became the go-to place for delicious, allergy-friendly pizza parties.

Marco learned a valuable lesson that day – sometimes, the best solutions come from thinking outside the (pizza) box. And even when faced with limitations, a little creativity and a sprinkle of grandma’s wisdom can turn a problem into something truly delicious.
